2008 Business Meeting and Luncheon

Our 2008 Business Meeting and Luncheon will be held during APHA on Thursday, May 8th at the Austin Hotel.
Dates for APHA will be May 7-9, 2008.

Check-in for the luncheon will begin at 11:00 at the Austin Hotel DeSoto Ballroom. The luncheon will start at 11:30.
Our luncheon speaker will be Dr. William Mason, Branch Chief, Preparedness and Response Branch, Arkansas Department of Health.

The OPA luncheon is open to current OPA members only ($5 membership dues must be paid prior to luncheon). Cost of luncheon for paid members will be $10.00 for reservations made by May 1, $13.00 if made May 2-5.  No sales will be made at the door due to the increase in the cost to OPA for the luncheon, so we encourage everyone to contact your OPA representative now or mail payments directly to Susan Short, OPA Treasurer, 980 Cedar St, Booneville, AR  72927. Scholarships for 2007

Julie Smith (left), daughter of RoseAnne and Donnie Smith, and Pauline Rowbottom, Central Region Distance Learning Coordinator (right), were the 2007 recipients of what is now known as the Sunni Armstrong OPA Scholarship. The OPA scholarship program was renamed in memory of Sunni Armstrong in 2007.

Office Professional of the Year

Sandra Canady (right), OPA Secretary, presents the OPA of the Year award for 2007 to Vicky Walden (left), who works as an Administrative Assistant in Benton County. Vicky has been with the agency since June of 1983 and is a tremendous asset to both the Benton County Health Unit and the Arkansas Department of Health. Congratulations, Vicky!!

Special Presentation

Britt Armstrong, husband of the late Sunni Armstrong, past OPA Parliamentarian, presents Shirley Belmont-Maxwell, current OPA Parliamentarian, with a copy of Roberts' Rules of Order in memory of Sunni.

Are they smarter than 5th graders?

A game of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" was presented on Thursday, May 10th by OPA.

One Hump or Two?

MaryeJo Stetzer, our “Moroccan Princess”, recently traveled to Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar.  While in Morocco, she found time to ride a camel, once again showing us what a “Wild and Crazy Gal” she really is.
